The festival month is over
Ian on 09/01/2009 at 11:48pm (UTC)
Well that's more or less it for another year, Edinburgh's numerous festivals are coming to an end.
It has been a busy month and I must say that some of my gigs/sessions have been outstanding. The audiences have been really good this year with plenty of participation. The sound of so many people joining in with many different harmonies really make you realise what this game is all about.
I have met many visitors from around the globe and already started receiving invitations from some who are now in their homeland.
Thanks to everyone who took the time out to come to the gigs and also introduced themselves or even played.
Roll on next year (tho' not too quickly)

Festival time in Edinburgh
Ian on 08/11/2009 at 11:00pm (UTC)
Here we are into August and it is that time of year when Edinburgh becomes a real mix of culture, music, theatre, comedy and generally just good fun.
The city is buzzing with all that is going on and unfortunately I am not seeing very much of the festivities due to work and gigs as well as trying to get some rest.
The August gigs have started well and although quite hard work at times I am having a bit of fun. This week sees two nights in the Greenmantle, Thursday and Friday, which has really taken off and we have been getting some real good feed back from both locals and visitors alike. Saturday it is back to the Royal Oak where there is always a good crowd albeit a bit noisy at times but that comes with the territory.
So if you are nearby any of these nights drop by and say hello.

Best wishes to all
Ian

Lots happening in August
Ian on 07/29/2009 at 9:38pm (UTC)
Well as August fast approaches it looks like a prettty busy month.
I am having a few days off work (that dreaded 4 letter word) at the beginning of the month, to spend a bit time with Jackie and also try and do some practicing at home for a change instead of only playing at the gigs.

I am doing the usual weekly sessions at the Royal Oak and the Greenmantle with as well as a few extra gigs due to the festival period in Edinburgh.

I am starting an Acoustic club in the Grey Horse in Balerno, which will be held every Tuesday (except the 1st Tuesday of the month as this is the Balerno Folk Club night). The idea is to have a session where we can have a bit of mix and match playing with people exchanging ideas and who knows some collaberations may come out of it.

If you are in the Edinburgh area come along to one of the gigs or the Acoustic club and introduce yourself (see gig page for details)

Cheers

Where is the year going?
Ian on 07/20/2009 at 10:53pm (UTC)
I cannot believe how quick this year is passing, it seems only a short time ago that I was in Holland. I must admit I really wish that me and Jackie were still away, however circumstances dictate that we have to be here in Edinburgh for the time being.

So what has been happening lately?
Well I have been working away and the full time job that is needed to pay the bills, mortgage etc is going well. Although not playing loads of gigs at least I have the luxury of regular gigs (see gig pages).

On the recording front I have sort of hit a brick wall again, and cannot afford to go into a studio. I do have a digital recorder but not had time to work it out properly but maybe next month I will get a bit more time to use it. I do not think I am ever going to achieve this CD.

Anyway that is about all for now except to say that I will be changing some of the other artist song players over the next week or two so keep an eye open for some new stuff.

Oh and play some of my tunes or and visit my Revernation site to help me push up the charts.

Cheers and thanks for the continuing support, I passed the 5000 hit mark at the weekend.
